Licensing

Many broadcasters already have a license and in these cases, it is not normally necessary for a production company to obtain a separate license.

For some uses, there are fixed tariffs - for example:

- Theatrical productions A typical rate until March 2011 was £2.20 per performance for use of a 0.01-2.5 minute clip;

- Background music/telephone hold music: £131.26 excl. VAT for 1-5 lines;

- Amateur theatrical performances: £52.55 per annum.

Please check with PPL for the latest rate. In all cases, use of materials published by TP4M requires the user to inform us of the name(s) of the work(s) being used and the application. This may be done by email to tp4m@theplace4music.com or by writing to us at the contact address.

Licensing

To use any of the works published by TP4M for broadcast or stage productions, it is necessary to obtain a PPL license (www.ppluk.com).
